Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 8, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Versions of Me ("we", "us", or "the App") handles your information.
Article 1 - Scope
This policy applies to all users of Versions of Me, available on iOS.
Article 2 - Local-First Architecture
Versions of Me is designed with a local-first, privacy-conscious architecture. Your personal data — including habits, check-in records, micro journal entries, vision images, letters, selfies, and vision map data — is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and is not uploaded to our servers.
Our backend does not directly store your input data.
Article 3 - Authentication
The App uses anonymous authentication via Firebase Authentication. No email address, password, or personal identifiers are required to use the App. Each user is assigned an anonymous identifier solely for the purpose of enabling community features and push notifications.
Optionally, users may link an Apple Sign-In account for account recovery purposes.
Article 4 - Information Sent to Our Servers
While personal data remains on your device, the following anonymized or aggregate information is sent to our servers (Firebase Firestore):
- Anonymous user identifier: Used for daily/weekly active user counting and community features
- Aggregate statistics: Check-in counts, streak milestones, and weekly activity summaries (no personal details included)
- Community declarations: If you choose to share a daily declaration, it is anonymized by AI processing before being uploaded. The original text is not stored on our servers
- Vision popularity counts: When you select a preset vision, the shared count is incremented anonymously
- Push notification token: If you enable notifications, your device token is stored for delivery purposes
Article 5 - Information Sent to Third-Party Services
AI Services (OpenAI / Google Gemini)
To generate personalized letters and verses, the App sends limited context to AI services:
- Habit name, streak count, vision title
- Recent micro journal excerpts (a few sentences)
- Trigger type and locale
This data is sent in transit only for text generation. The AI services do not store your data. Generated content is saved locally on your device.
RevenueCat
For subscription management, the App communicates with RevenueCat using an anonymous identifier. RevenueCat processes purchase events and subscription status. No personal data or habit information is shared with RevenueCat.
Firebase (Google LLC)
- Authentication: Anonymous sign-in only
- Firestore: Aggregate community statistics only (as described in Article 4)
- Cloud Messaging: Push notification delivery
- Analytics: Anonymous app usage events (e.g., feature interactions, paywall views). No personal content is included in analytics events
Apple
App distribution and in-app purchases are handled via the App Store.
Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy.
Article 6 - Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect or store on our servers:
- Email addresses or passwords (authentication is anonymous)
- Habit details or check-in records
- Micro journal entries
- Vision images or selfie photos
- Letters, verses, or AI-generated content
- Location data, contacts, or health data
Article 7 - Data Retention
- On-device data: Persists until you delete the App. You have full control over your local data
- Server-side data: Anonymous identifiers and aggregate statistics are retained for community features. Push notification tokens are retained until notification permissions are revoked
- Community declarations: Anonymized declarations may be removed if reported by other users
Article 8 - Your Rights
Since your personal data is stored locally on your device, you have direct control over it. You may:
- View all your data within the App
- Delete the App to remove all local data
- Disable push notifications to stop token storage
- Contact us to request removal of any server-side anonymous data
Article 9 - Security
- On-device data is protected by iOS device encryption and App Sandbox
- Communications with our servers and third-party services use TLS encryption
- Anonymous authentication ensures no personal credentials are stored
Article 10 - Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes through the App or other appropriate means. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
